Forget the repetitive dialogue from **GTA 5**. According to the leak, **Rockstar Games**has created a system where characters change what they say based on various real-world factors:

- **Conversations that evolve:** Two characters might start arguing over a parking spot, and the conversation could naturally escalate into a physical fight, with dialogue that reflects this escalation.
- **No Repetitions:** The test conducted by the sound team ensured that, even when standing next to an **NPC**for 20 minutes, they almost never repeated the same line, seeking deep variations within the system.

## How does this supposed dialogue system in GTA 6 work?

The big secret revealed by the leak isn’t just the number of lines, but how the game “assembles” them in real time. The system operates through three main pillars: **categorization**, **conditionals,** and **chaining**.

### Categorization by "Tags"

Instead of a giant folder with audio files, each line of dialogue has several "labels." Imagine that a convenience store clerk **NPC** has a recorded line of dialogue. The game doesn’t just see it as "clerk’s line." It reads it like this:

- **Who:** Convenience store clerk.
- **State:** Recognizes the player (you’ve robbed him before).
- **Emotion:** Moderate panic.
- **Environment:** Night and Raining.

The game only plays this specific audio clip if **all** these conditions are met during your gameplay. If it’s sunny, the system discards this audio clip and searches for the “Sunny” tag.

### The modular system

The leak mentions that the dialogues are "modular." This means that an interaction can be assembled in parts.

- **Part A (Greeting):** "Hey, it's you again…"
- **Part B (Reaction to the crime):** "…I heard you caused a ruckus at the port…"
- **Part C (Farewell):** "…don’t get me in trouble today."

Each part of this is a separate file. The game combines the three parts based on what you did in past missions. This creates the illusion that the **NPC**is a real person who "knows" about your life.

### Conversation Chaining

This is what makes the **NPCs**in **GTA 6**talk to each other. The system works like an "If/Then" flowchart:

- **NPC A starts:** "Have you seen the price of gas?" (Tag: Economy_Complaint)
- **NPC B responds:** If **NPC B** is "**Rich**," they ignore it. If **NPC B** is "**Poor**," they agree and escalate the conversation.
- **Result:** The game pulls a sequence of **IDs**that link the two characters’ lines, creating a discussion that can last for minutes without repeating anything.

### Dialogue Decay (The End of Looping)

To prevent the world from feeling artificial, there is "**Decay**." If you stand still listening to an **NPC**, the system marks lines that have already been used as "exhausted." To avoid repetition, the game is programmed to seek out increasingly rare and specific variations. That’s why the tester didn’t hear any repetitions even after 20 minutes of observation.

## The Controversy Between **SAG-AFTRA** Voice Actors and GTA 6

. The source explains that this “is not a normal voice acting job,” but rather the construction of a massive database.
