While browsing his Xbox interface, the Norwegian striker listed his "Top 3" all-time favorite games:

When mentioning the Rockstar franchise, Haaland didn’t hide his excitement about the company’s upcoming release: “Oh, GTA, I can’t wait for the new one,” said the player, clearly referring to GTA 6. You can check out this video below:
To prove that his love for the franchise is real, the friend who was recording the video threw down a classic challenge for the striker: "You're on a desert island and have only one choice. Which game is it?"
Without hesitating for even a second, Haaland replied: "GTA."
Coincidence or marketing for the World Cup?
In early April, Portal Viciados had already reported on a development: the official Rockstar Games account started following Erling Haaland on Instagram. The studio is known for following very few accounts, which set off a red flag in the community.
Putting the pieces together, Haaland’s statement in his new video may not be a mere coincidence.
The big kickoff for the heavy marketing campaign for GTA 6 is scheduled to take place this summer (in the Northern Hemisphere), a period that coincides exactly with the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
