In a statement sent to the American website Kotaku, a spokesperson for Rockstar Games confirmed the hack but drastically downplayed the severity of the situation.

Rockstar Games’ statement was short and to the point:

“We can confirm that a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach. This incident has no impact on our organization or our players.”

Essentially, this statement provides three crucial confirmations:

  1. “Third-party breach”: This confirms our previous report. Rockstar was not hacked directly; the issue occurred through the third-party platform (the integration with Anodot/Snowflake).
  2. “Non-material information”: In the corporate world, “non-material” means that the leaked data lacks sufficient financial or strategic relevance to impact the business. In other words: no GTA 6 source code, no delays, and no secrets.
  3. “No impact on players”: The final confirmation that your accounts, passwords, Rockstar Social Club data, and credit card information are 100% secure.
